FICG 42 opens submissions for features and shorts
FICG 42 opened submissions for features and shorts, with free registration available until August 20, 2026.

FICG 42 opened submissions for feature films and shorts from Mexico and abroad. If your film is aiming for the 2027 festival circuit, the free window is short and it is smarter to enter before fees kick in.
The facts
- The 42nd edition will run from March 6 to 13, 2027.
- Free registration runs from July 20 to August 20, 2026.
- After the free window, fees will be 400 pesos for features and 200 pesos for shorts.
- The short-film deadline is October 16; features can be submitted until October 31.
- Selected projects will be announced in January 2027 on the festival’s official site.
- The call covers fiction, documentary, animation, Premio Mezcal, Premio Maguey, Hecho en Jalisco and Cine Socioambiental.
LATAM read
For Mexican and LATAM productions, FICG still matters because it mixes industry, press and regionally visible awards. The practical read is timing: some categories require Mexican or Latin American premiere status, and registration is handled through a private screening link. If your film is closing post, this is not calendar noise; it is a real deadline.
My personal opinion — Daniel Blanco A.M.C.
This festival is one of the most important in Latin America because of its connection with the industry, the events and the networking around it. Even if you are not submitting a feature or a short, it is worth checking calls like Talents and the parallel activities: that is where you meet people, watch Latin American, Ibero-American and international cinema, and understand what other filmmakers are doing. Do not leave the submission until the end.
